Goals for the Next Six Months

It has taken me a week to write this. A mix of sheer exhaustion and distractions, I mean the ASOS website with all the sales is distracting. But to be honest, it’s probably neither. It’s more so that I haven’t been able to find the right words.

My goal for the next six months is to actually take time for myself and focus on self-care.

It’s taken me a long time to make self-care a priority or even consider it something for me to focus on. And people who know me personally know that not only am I a shopaholic (if you couldn’t tell already then… SURPRISE!!!), but I’m a workaholic too. It kind of fits my career description because there is never really a time I can turn off my phone until and unless I am in a place with bad signal and no wifi.

Beyond this, I think it’s also a cultural thing. Growing up in a typical brown desi family, I have never seen my parents or my entire extended family ever take time to focus on themselves. I wonder if it’s something that they just developed in all their hustle or it’s something that was passed down through generations just like all the home remedies.

For me, self-care became a priority after how burned out I have been in the last six months. The burn out led to my anxiety going back into high gear and I would continuously feel lost. I felt like I had turned robotic and not much mattered. I literally spent May and June not caring much about what I wore or if I had makeup on me. Those are things I usually enjoy, but all I would do is sleep till the last minute I possibly could, go to work and come back home to sleep. I was stuck in a cycle and I needed to break it.

Things I’m going to be doing to work on my goal for prioritizing self-care in the next six months.

Working Out More, Being More Healthy

Right now, I try and make it to the gym at least three times a week, but the other four days I go back to my unhealthy habits. So really progress doesn’t happen much and I know I need to work on that to get healthier and reach my target weight by November.

Reading More

As a kid, I used to love reading. I even stopped watching TV for a month in third grade during the readathon, to read as many books as possible to win. And now, even though I have books I want to read on my To Read List but I haven’t come around to it yet. I have to start again.

Organized and Curated Closet and Makeup Collection

This has been so overdue. I have to fix my closet so desperately that I need help like Carrie did when she was moving.

I have clothes that I need to sell and donate. (Side note, if there is a way to do this on Instagram, let me know because I have brand new pieces as well that I haven’t worn at all.) Besides an emptier closet means more fall purchases and more new content in the coming months.

Socializing

I want to make it a goal for the next six months to socialize with friends and network as well. In this industry, I need to remember that networking is not only a way to find new opportunities but it is what would give me a better foundation going up on the career ladder. Being surrounded by people I like or understand fashion is a good way to focus on decompressing and being inspired to create more and grow more.

Well that’s all from me, I have to go take off my face mask and let me know what your goals are for the next six months.

As always find me on Instagram .
