What’s in my makeup bag (June Edition)

Hello Internet!

So it’s been a while since I’ve come around to this again, but with the end of classes, tying loose strings take time as they continue to unravel before being braided. I started a new project which I hope takes me around the world. And I have networked like a big girl. #Adulting

But today with the weather so gloomy here because of the constant rain, I went into my happy place, my makeup bag. Well, one of my happy places…

(But on a side note: Dear weather, please get your shit together and stop acting like a teenager on PMS, sometimes you’re bright and sunny, and sometimes you’re just miserable. I don’t know how to dress according to your mood swings. Thanks!)

Okay back to business, so the last two months, I have been inclined towards my pinks. Now, if you’ve ever met me in person, I often have dark colors or a 90s brown like Rachel Green (which is Paramount by MAC, I heard about this so it’s just a PSA); so yeah pink is really out of my general comfort zone; but so much of the last two months have been me trying to do things I wouldn’t so why not a bright pink lip to add to the list.

Now, to some, this may seem a lot, but once you have a system down this is a five-minute job.

What's in my makeup bag

Face Cream/ Primer: Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream

Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream

When I first read about this and tried it on, I was a little apprehensive since I tend to be on a combination skin territory during the spring-summer season; but this has changed my life. My skin feels so much smoother, and it feels like it is hydrated from inside. I haven’t even reached 1/4 of the tube yet… a little bit goes a long well. This has improved my skin so much since April that some days I can skip on my foundation and let my skin be.

Foundation: BareMinerals Complexion Rescue in Tan

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue in Tan

Now when I do wear foundation, this has become my ride or die in the last six months. First of all, because the color matches me perfectly. Being a brown girl in Japan is a tad bit difficult in this department but thank god for BareMinerals. The Complexion Rescue isn’t exactly a full coverage foundation, though it is very buildable. It’s a tinted hydrating gel cream, so it works well on my skin which has its own mood swings. It’s light enough that it keeps my skin breathable and not cakey, and since it is a hydrating gel, I’ve got that natural like highlight! I use the BareMinerals Smoothing Face brush with this, it’s like I got my face airbrushed!

Eyes:

Eyeshadows – Becca X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette

and NARS Single Eyeshadow in 2036N

Normally I don’t like going over to my highlight immediately since I like to let my “foundation” sink a bit into the skin so that it won’t budge. So I move to my eyes. As a base, I like to use the bronzer (Malibu Soleil) in my Becca palette (still obsessed with Chrissy, to be honest). The bronzer is a subtle enough brown to make a great base shadow. As far as I know, this bronzer is exclusive to the palette. To top it off, since one shadow cannot be ever enough, I use my finger to apply the NARS shadow in 2036N (there’s no horror in that, it’s just quick). The shade is aptly named as Ashes to Ashes (discovered this today), it’s an ashy satin mauve brown. The mauve hue hits my pink make-up obsession, but the brown-ness keeps the shade in my comfort zone. I use the Real Technique Shadow Blending brush, in the end, to smooth it all out. Blend! Blend!

Brows: NYX Precision Brow Pencil in Espresso

I have tried many brow pencils, especially ones from Maybelline, but this works the smoothest. I used to find the packaging slightly clunky since the cap on the product side is literally half the length of the pencil, but now when I’m in a rush I don’t keep opening the spoolie brush side (oh that added bonus of a spoolie!) This used to be one of my pet peeves with the Maybelline ones, plus this is so much smoother in texture so even though the color is a little darker, it looks natural. And the smooth texture doesn’t make it feel like I’m dragging a tree bark (side eye to the Maybelline one… (I honestly do not hate Maybelline, even if this seems so)).

Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex and Benefit Roller Lash

#gallery-3 { margin: auto; } #gallery-3 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-3 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-3 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

I know, I know it’s weird that I use mini-sizes, but I like to keep rotating my mascaras so this way they don’t dry out. The BTS one is perfect when I want to keep most of my face simple (haha there’s a shocker!), the added volume keeps effort minimum and I don’t even need to curl my lifeless lashes for the curl to last all day! For the days when I added a little bit of shimmer to my lids, I stick to the Roller Lash so you can actually see my lids. The rubber grip makes it easier to hold it especially since it’s a mini size. It’s lightweight but keeps the curl and length all day so what more can I ask from this little tube.

Liner: Golden Rose Smoky Effect Eye Pencil in Deep Black

This on my lower lash line and I can cry like I’m in a sad music video, it still won’t budge. Shoutout to Mama who got this from Turkey! I’d go to Turkey just for this, honestly! They sure do know how to make waterline liners. I haven’t ever used the bottom part which has the sponge part to create the smoky effect. This is really creamy and I used to use this only on special occasions since I highly doubt I can restock on this easily, but with the weather turning hot it’s best to have liners that won’t budge.

Lips:

Primer: NYX Lip Primer

It’s a standard lip primer, I don’t know what else to say…

Lipstick: Dior Addict Lacquer Plump in 777 Diorly

Dior Addict Lip Lacquer in Diorly

Dior Addict Lip Lacquer in Diorly

Drum roll! This is by far my favorite at the moment! It could be because it has my name on the side; which can be done at the Dior Beauty Boutique at GINZA SIX here in Tokyo. But beyond that, the shade is a perfect blend of a summer pink with a spring berry. I was afraid of the plump part but I haven’t noticed any plumping factor on my lips so it makes it wearable on a daily basis.

Cheeks:

Becca X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette’s Highlighter in Rose Gold

BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette

BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette

This is the last thing I put on my face, the rose gold feels like pure liquid rose gold as seen on Instagram! The shade is buildable and works well in photos without seeming like the over the top frosty highlight we left in 2017. I use a random cheek brush from Forever21. (#notabeautyguru) If I’m in the mood for I’ll add the Beach Nectar highlight on the top of the Rose Gold since you can never say no to more highlight!

If you’ve scrolled down till the end, wow and cheers to you!!
